Subject: Please Review: Statement #2 and other info
To: Dae Levine <dae@a4e.org.au>
Dear all,

Apologies for another long email, but it has been a busy week!

Many thanks for your participation in the recent round of consultation calls and also to those of you who signed onto the community statement that was re-released yesterday.

Statement #2:
Attached please find two versions of a new statement (Statement #2) for which we would like to achieve the same impact by having many signatories. Please review and let me know if you or your organisation are able to sign on to the statement. If you have suggested changes please let me know. If they are not substantive in nature but just change a word or two I will not send it back out for approval.

The final vote in the Senate could be as early as this Thursday, but the vote might also be delayed until the week of 7 November. In any case we want to be ready.

There are two versions attached, but only one will go out.
If the final vote in the Senate happens this week, the statement will go out Friday. Therefore, for that statement, the deadline for signatories is 10 am Friday 14 October.
If the final vote in the Senate does not happen this week, the statement will go out next week. Therefore, for that statement, the deadline for signatories is 5 pm Monday.
Why not make life easy and sign on to both at once? The differences are all in Paragraph 3 – changing past tense of the plebiscite being voted down to a future expectation that it will and a call on Senators to do so.

Next Meeting:
We will continue the meetings as planned for the national community, using the list of signatories from Statement #1 and Statement #2 as the basis for the invitee list. (We will continue to engage with regional and local groups in other ways). By doing so we can continue to work together in a unified way going forward.

Next meeting: Please note that the next National Community Roundtable meeting is on Friday 21 October from 4:30-6:30 pm Sydney time.
