As this is a Christian festival – in origin if not in actual practice nowadays – I thought I’d send this Christmas card to the Australian Christian Lobby and other Christian friends of “Teh Gay”.

According to the luminaries of your religion, all creation is unequivocally good.

Gregory of Nyssa: “Creation proclaims outright the Creator.”

Thomas Aquinas: “Every being in any way existing is from God.”

Bonaventure of Bagnoregio imagines all creation as likenesses and ‘vestiges’ of God.

Dame Julian of Norwich says that God loved creation even before it came into being, which is to say, unconditionally.

Christmas represents the time when the good and holy was irrevocably united with and manifested in the created order, when God was born as a Man.

Every created being, including #LGBTI people, your religion insists, is, and has always been, inherently godly.

That also includes you, of course, but then again, no-one’s here is claiming religion has to be logical. Look what you did to your own supposed ‘saviour’.

So will you please quit you holy war on me and my brothers and sisters, and instead embrace us as we are – inherently godly, and undeniably divine?

Merry Christmas

If you want to nominate him too - the more the merrier - you can do it here http://www.australianlgbtiawards.com.au/public-nominations.html"Doug is revered, feared and reviled in equal quantities, at times dividing people with his journalistic wrath. Yet there is no doubt this grandpa-esque bear keeps everyone abreast of anything and everything LGBT across the globe." (Daniel Witthaus, "Beyond Priscilla", Clouds of Magellan, Melbourne, 2014)
