Not everyone is happy with same-sex marriage, of course. Serial offender and top Christaliban commander Kevin Andrews has even written a book about it. You know the deal, “slippery slope”, “polygamy”, “incest”, “bestiality”, blah, blah blah.
Meantime the push to get a federal gay marriage measure through is ramping up again with the launch of another petition. Yeah, I know, but we have to get over our disappointment and keep the pressure on.
The Americans have another line of attack: get as many LBGTTI people elected to office as possible. A record number are standing for Congress in the upcoming elections.
Church v State
Part of the problem is the lack of clear separation of church and state: there’s a conference for that. The Humanist Society of Queensland is holding a Separation of Church and State Schools conference in Brisbane 13/14 October.
Retired Episcopalian bishop John Shelby-Spong is an unusual cleric. In fact, his radical take on Christian theology is so refreshing it’s almost enough to convince an atheist to reconsider. Among his stunningly obvious insights, once you hear it, is that God is not a Christian. Or a Hindu. Or a Muslim. Listen to this amazing man here.

While in the States a prominent National Football League player says what no AFL player has yet had the guts to say: most straight players couldn’t give a damn if there are ten gays with him on the team, so long as the team wins the Superbowl.
