Petition to Keep Nigerian Pastor Out Goes Live

20131020_let_the_wind_blowThe petition to deny a visa to the homophobic witch-hunting cleric from Nigeria is now online. Please click here to sign, and share the petition around.

This man is one of the prime movers behind the anti-gay legislation in Nigeria, which even criminalises public displays of affection between members of the same sex, with a maximum sentence of ten years jail.

Pastor Enoch Adeboye’s grandiose plan to build a three kilometre square church in his home town may have been the last straw for his fellow Nigerians.

“Do not give a penny to this project, pay your rent, bills , feed your children and then give to the poor and the needy around you. Go to the Lord in prayer before you donate a penny. I am sure there are worthier causes all around us.”

His friendship with corrupt politicians is also creating anger and disquiet.

Secretary of Joint Action Front, JAF, Abiodun Aremu, said the church was already neck-deep in corruption and vanity.  “Church leaders are fraternizing with corrupt political leaders. The church is being used as an agent of exploiting the poor.”

Pastor Adeboye plans to tour the Asia Pacific, including Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. The later already has enough problems with anti-witch hysteria without importing more. Please support the petition to keep him out.
