World Congress Of Families: the Forgotten Firebrand

BurkeEven News Ltd has now noticed that the upcoming World Congress of Families (International Ambassador: Kevin Andrews) is stuffed with loonies. What’s more, it’s even written about it in faintly critical terms under the headline World Congress of Families conference firebrand figures.

But they missed one particularly unpleasant individual –  ‘His Eminence Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke, Prefect of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, who ordered priests to withhold communion from politicians who support abortion and told Catholics not to vote for them.

His Eminence showed his caring side when he spoke about the pain and suffering of the terminally ill. Opposing euthanasia, he said,

“No matter how much a life is diminished, no matter what suffering the person is undergoing, that life demands the greatest respect and care. It’s never right to snuff out a life because it’s in some way under heavy burden.”

He is no fan of the current Pope, and that regard is returned. Shortly after his elevation Francis removed the Cardinal from the Congregation of Bishops. The Cardinal was not amused.

“One gets the impression . . . that he thinks we’re talking too much about abortion, too much about the integrity of marriage as between one man and one woman. But we can never talk enough about that.”

You’ll be able to hear the Cardinal at the Melbourne WCF regional conference on Life, Family and Freedom (also known as ‘Babettes Feast), 9.00 am to 5.30 pm, Saturday 30th August 2014, St. Cecilia’s Hall, cnr Van Ness Ave. & Hillside Pde, Glen Iris, Vic. 3146.
